HALCALI vinyl scans added to gallery

In our quest to bring you everything HALCALI you could ever possibly want, and even stuff you don’t want, I’ve added some new album scans to the gallery.

These ones are from HALCALI’s recent “You May Dream” vinyl release. Really there isn’t anything new to see here, it’s basically the same old same old from the single release, but I scanned them in obnoxiously high quality (seriously, they are needlessly large) in case anyone wanted to do something with them. The vinyl does offer a new remixed version of “You May Dream,” so there might be something interesting there, but until I get to a record player I guess I will never know.

Roman Hikou PV is out!! And Lyrics!! And Translation!!

SO ADORABLE.
The choreography is so cute and I must say the girls are looking great! They even SKANK!
Read the lyrics and pay attention to the dance, and you can see how they try to portray the lyrics of a song through the dance. So cute!

Yes- I have translated the lyrics for Roman Hikou. Check it out!!

Everyone please support HALCALI and purchase the new single! It is VERY cheap~

HALCALI at Rock in Japan Fes. LIVE

So I posted up a translation of the news article that involved this live a while back. Basically HALCALI performed at the summer Rock in Japan Fes. music festival. It was 3 days and over 100 groups. They got to perform at the Forest stage and ended up getting most of the crowd to get really into their live.

They recently aired the footage for the show on TV so now we can get a good look at the performance. WOWOW decided to show HALCALI’s live of “ZIG ZAG SATURDAY NIGHT,” and frankly I think it is stunning. The girls took an audience that seemed apathetic at first and made them jump up and down and wave their hands. It was amazing. Definitely check this one out.

HALCALI thanks fans at Shibuya HMV

So I wrote this article at TokyoHive. Natalie posted a review/setlist of their live at HMV a bit ago. Sounds like it went fantastic, plus they debuted Roman Hikou there!

Yesterday, hip-hop duo HALCALI performed their thank you live “Thanks to HMV Shibuya HALCALI Special Live!!” at the Shibuya branch of HMV, for the fans who helped make their recent album “Tokyo Groove” so successful.

Many fans came to see them before the store was officially closed for the live performance. The girls appeared on stage and sang “It’s Party Time!,” “LONG KISS GOODBYE,” and “Mabataki” in quick succession. After their opening performances they greeted the audience and reminisced about the last time that they had performed at HMV Shibuya, saying that BLACK EYED PEAS had been doing a live as well that they had snuck off to see.

At that point, YUCALI announced to the audience some very special news; they were going to debut their new song “Roman Hikou” for them. The duo had recently announced the cover of Kome Kome Club’s classic song, but this would be their first time performing it live. HALCALI’s “Roman Hikou” was a tropical ska take on the song, complete with an energetic ska dance. As the duo finished the performance they said that it definitely “felt like there was a party in the air.”

They continued the live set by performing “Kaminari GIRL” from their new album before going into their classic “Giri Giri Surf Rider.” Then YUCALI loudly announced, “this is our last song and I think you all know it, so sing! Don’t you think HMV deserves it?!” The duo then bounced into their version of “Konya wa Boogie Back“, much to the delight of the audience.

Once they were done with their performance they made sure to mention the closing events that would be happening soon for the iconic Shibuya HMV. They energetically said to the audience, “tomorrow at 10PM they will be closing up here, but we all want to say thank you for 20 years of hard work to HMV. You people over there just looking at the CDs, will you be coming?! (laughs) Let’s make sure that the people on the first floor can hear us.” The duo then lead the audience to a rounding cheer of “thanks for your hard work” to the Shibuya HMV. They also ended the cheer by appropriately singing one chorus from their song “Otsukare SUMMER.”

After they had finished all eight of their song performances HALCALI was met with great cheers and the duo reappeared on the stage. HALCA announced to the happy fans, “I suppose we will do an encore, you guys have the energy for that right?!” The duo then picked their microphones up again and burst into their classic “Harukari Michi ~19 no Yoru~” much to the delight of the screaming, jumping fans.
