New single, Roman Hikou, is official!

According to HALCALI’s official site, Roman Hikou is go!
It will be the new CM song for Sony’s new digital camera “The Cyber-Shot”.
Once again, Roman Hikou, is a cover of the 90′s big hit song by Kome Kome Club.

The information on the site also mentions that the sales of HALCALI’s recent album, TOKYO GROOVE, have been very good and steady.
It also says that the CM is going to highlight the HD capabilities of the new camera, which will effect the new song (and probably PV), so I think we can expect something colorful and HALCALI-esque.
The song is also detailed as a bold and tropical styled ska arrangement.

The CM will begin airing on the 21st of this month (Saturday).

If you have a Japanese keitai, you can download the ringtone on ChakuUta starting the 25th of this month, and the full version on Septermber 8th.

New Single?!?!?!

So I was just looking up some lyrics, and BAM! A new single?! WHAT? source
Just when I thought we wouldn’t get another release from them for another 2 years!

The source says that HALCALI will cover the 1990 hit song, “Roman Hikou” (Romance Flight) by Kome Kome CLUB and will be on sale September 15th. The cover will be a bold Ska Dance Pop tune. As for a commercial tie-up, it will be Sony’s “Cyber Shot” commercial theme song.
The source also says that TOKYO GROOVE is a pretty big hit, and still going.

Let’s cross our fingers that something great happens, but like good HALCALI fans, let’s not get our hopes too high. Haha. Hoping this doesn’t get canceled or pushed back like the 2nd SOUL SET collab single.

Here’s the original. To be honest- I love it. Although I’ve always had a thing for 80′s & early 90′s pop/rock. Can’t wait to see what the girls are going to do with it.

UPDATE// YUCALI is dying her hair pink! photo
This is usually something associated with promotion, since she probably by contract can’t do that kind of radical thing without. She also said that tomorrow there is some very important photography! Perhaps the NEW SINGLE??

UPDATE2// YUCALI mentioned that she was at dance rehearsal for about 2 hours yesterday. Perhaps dance rehearsal for their choreography for the NEW SONG? :)

More HALCALI lives for Japanese fans!

Argh. I’m starting to get super jealous of Japanese fans. This is a really nice promotion they will be running at HMV in Shibuya. Posted is article I wrote at tokyohive.com again.

Hip-hop duo HALCALI will perform a special live event at the HMV in Shibuya on August 22st. The event will be called ” Thanks to HMV Shibuya HALCALI Special Live!” and will celebrate the release of their new album, “TOKYO GROOVE”, which was released at the end of May.

The event will start on August 21st, and if you buy a copy of their new album, “TOKYO GROOVE”, at the Shibuya HMV, you will be given a free ticket to their live. On August 22nd they will close down the HMV store and it will turn into a mini live event for those fans who bought the album. There will also be priority tickets available at HMV.

This special event will feature a mini live by the duo, and fans who pick up the priority tickets will also get an autograph present. Since the live is in the store and quite intimate, it is likely to be quite noisy and should heat up the day in Shibuya!

HALCALI at ROCK IN JAPAN

I’m reposting this from the translation that I did over at tokyohive.com. Basically there was an article written about the show they did at ROCK IN JAPAN and it sounds like the set list and response was amazing. I’ll put the pics from the article up in the gallery later too. YUCALI and DJ KiMJUN have been tweeting about it too.

HALCALI controls stage at ROCK IN JAPAN FES.

The ROCK IN JAPAN music festival has just finished, and the excitement still lingers, especially for those who attended the SOUND OF FOREST performance by HALCALI. The 2 MC girl unit took control of the stage with their appearance.

HALCALI started off their set with the coupling track from their “Re: Yasashii Kimochi” single, “Orange Sunset.” The duo enthusiastically interacted with the audience as they moved freely over the stage, getting everyone into the groove. The audience soon started clapping their hands to the beat, and the whole atmosphere of the SOUND OF FOREST live was happy and energetic.

The witty banter from the girls even got the audience to laugh. During one MC segment YUCALI faced the crowd and announced, “Right now this is the best feeling!” HALCA turned to her partner and retorted, “Really? It’s not too hot?” YUCALI continued with, “isn’t it a pleasant heat though?” After the cute MC segment, the girls continued on with a live performance of their new track, “Kaminari Girl,” which smoothly moved into the dance beat of “ZIG ZAG SATURDAY NIGHT.“ By this point the audience was really dancing along to the fun beat.

Then YUCALI turned to the audience and yelled out, “Alright it is time to get to work! I believe in you SOUND OF FOREST!” She then yelled the introduction, “Summer Time Baby~,” to HALCALI’s song “Giri Giri Surf Rider“, and the audience met it with an overwhelming response of “how high?” from the fans.

Last year they finished up their performance with the collaboration cover “Konya wa Boogie Back” with TOKYO No. 1 SOUL SET. This year they decided to end with their song “Harukari Michi ~19 no yoru~.” After the performance they introduced their crew and let their DJ, DJ KiMJUN, play a set of music. HALCALI had great fighting spirit and energy throughout the whole performance, but it always seems best when they are being their own adorable selves.

TOKYO No. 1 SOUL SET + HALCALI singles out on analog

Okay so perhaps this isn’t huge news, but as we have been a little dry for new stuff recently I figured I would post it anyway.

Turns out they are going to release a special analog vinyl of the TOKYO No. 1 SOUL SET + HALCALI singles. Did anyone see that coming?! I suppose it is better late than never though. Track list is as follows:

A-01. You May Dream – T1SS ver.
A-02. You May Dream – T1SS Ver.- Inst
B-01. Konya wa Boogie Back
B-02. Konya wa Boogie Back – Inst

It’s due out on August 13th. Most import sites don’t offer the analog vinyls… so it might be quite tricky for overseas fans to get their hands on this. Looks like I for one will be hitting up the auction sites online. Bah.
